What Will The New ‘Normal’ Look Like In The Coming Days And Months?

The Coronavirus brought about multiple radical changes that we were not expecting. Large companies started working remotely and would handle their internal meetings and client meetings over the internet without meeting anyone in person. A lot of jobs and companies could not keep up with these changes as companies had to work on some tasks in person like construction or hospitality. Additionally, a study of a large number of companies showed that remote working decreased the overall productivity of companies, but it was the only option they had.

As a company, we offer professional skilled nursing care, and we cannot do that remotely but have to handle it in person. It caused a lot of changes to the work we would do, and we are seeing masks becoming a part of our wardrobe, which don’t seem to be going away. Additionally, we have noticed that many prospective clients are unwilling to meet in person for fear of catching the virus. Most family members are working from home as well, so the need for caregivers to the older people in their house has also diminished. Overall, the days of the pandemic were challenging for our company as a whole.

When it comes to the way we communicate and coordinate with people, we use Zoom meetings to contact prospective clients and interviewing caregivers. We also coordinate a lot of our communication through regular phone calls and text messages. We are not using any secure platform to share information at this time. We try to avoid in-person meetings with people as much as possible to keep everyone safe. However, we do not work remotely and go into the office to ensure we are getting things done.

We cannot meet prospective clients the way we would like as most people are not open to meeting in person. We’d like to see the lay of the land (to see where our caregivers will be working), but we are not able to move around to visit clients’ homes.

When it comes to the in-person interviews, we usually have one or two at a time, mostly for caregivers. However, we make sure we take all the precautions to keep everyone safe and follow all the rules put down by the Government. The staff follows all the CDC precautions when they come to the office. We sit 6ft or more apart, wear masks and gloves, and we clean all surfaces daily.

We have not made any changes to the amount of time we spend working at the office. Furthermore, when it comes to people we are working with, we make sure we give them the same number of hours now as we would pre-pandemic.

We are open to in-person meetings if the people we are meeting follow all the CDC precautions, wearing masks, gloves, social distancing. We would prefer not having those meetings in person though, if we could coordinate them online. We are open to taking part in virtual public events and business expos.
